Burundi, un 3è journaliste incarcéré en une semaine

Matthias Manirakiza, directeur de la radio Isanganiro, station émettant
à Bujumbura, capitale du Burundi, a été placé, mercredi 29 novembre 2006, en
détention préventive à la prison centrale de Mpimba.

Convoqué au parquet général de Bujumbura où il a été entendu par le
magistrat Liévin Macumi, le journaliste était accusé de « diffusion du
secret de la sûreté de l’Etat ». Il lui est reproché d’avoir diffusé, le 29
août 2006, sur les ondes de la radio Isanganiro, une information faisant
état de l’attaque imminente du palais présidentiel et de la résidence de M.
Hussein Rajabu, président du parti au pouvoir, par des éléments de la
police.

C’est à l’issue de cette audition que le procureur a signifié au journaliste
sa détention préventive.

Manirakiza est le troisième journaliste à être envoyé en prison en l’espace
d’une semaine. Deux autres journalistes, Serges Nibizi et Domitille Kiramvu,
de la RPA (Radio publique africaine), sont détenus, depuis le 22 novembre
2006, à la prison centrale de Mpimba, accusés de  "violation du secret de l'instruction".
